Lokeshvara (Khmer : លោកេស្វរៈ) at the National Museum in Phnom Penh is a sandstone image of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, associated with Avalokiteshvara and highly revered in Khmer Buddhist art. Dating to the late 12th–early 13th century Bayon or Angkor-period, it likely once stood at Angkor Thom near the Gate of the Dead before being transferred to the museum for preservation. The statue shows the serene, introspective face and refined proportions typical of classic Khmer sculpture, expressing the ideal of royal compassion that flourished under Jayavarman VII.
