Picture of the day: Chek Kramuon, Cambodian Wax Bananas on a Simple Plate

Steamed Chek Kramuon (Khmer: ចេកក្រមួន), or Cambodian wax bananas, glow softly on a plain white plate, their skins still green while the fruit inside turns golden and tender. The rustic wooden table hints at a home kitchen where afternoon snacks are unhurried and deeply rooted in memory. This quiet scene celebrates everyday Cambodian food culture, where humble bananas become a comforting, almost ceremonial treat.
