Authorities Respond to Sovereignty Violations and Public Safety Threats

The Cambodian Ministry of Interior has ordered the continued ban on drone (unmanned aerial vehicle) flights in nine border provinces—Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat, Koh Kong, Siem Reap, and Kampong Thom—following repeated violations of Cambodia’s sovereign airspace and ongoing security concerns.

Ministry of Interior Directive Prolongs Suspension Until Further Notice

This prohibition was initially implemented for 15 days starting August 8, 2025, but has now been extended from August 20, 2025, until further notice. The extension aims to strengthen public control, security, and national safety in these regions. Provincial authorities have reported ongoing attempts at unauthorized drone flights and intrusive technological activities in sensitive border areas, prompting the continuation and strict enforcement of the ban.

Cabinet-level direction underscores that the policy is being coordinated with related ministries and institutions, and the order is signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Dr. Sar Sokha. Copies have been distributed to all key agencies for monitoring and compliance.

The original document published by the Ministry of Interior is available on AKP’s website.
