Rama is the hero of Khmer shadow theater, depicted as Preah Ream in the Reamker epic, embodying virtue, duty, and kingship through sacred leather puppets that retell ancient stories from the Ramayana. These large non-articulated puppets are used in ceremonial performances, accompanied by narration and traditional orchestra. Khmer shadow theater preserves spiritual beliefs and cultural heritage, celebrating significant virtues and legendary episodes of Rama.
