The greater adjutant (Leptoptilos dubius) is a large and rare stork found in Cambodia, where it inhabits freshwater wetlands, especially around the Tonle Sap Lake and its flooded forests. Cambodia now supports one of the few remaining breeding populations of this species, with about 750 individuals estimated as of 2025, making its conservation crucial. This distinctive bird, known locally as ត្រដក់ធំ (trâ-dâk thum), plays an important ecological role as a scavenger and is increasingly benefiting from conservation actions that protect its nesting sites and wetland habitats.
