The Southeast Asian pâté sandwich is best known to Western food lovers by its Vietnamese name: bánh mì. This delicious creation dates back to the French Indochina era. However, it isn’t unique to Vietnam—Cambodia also boasts its own version, called នំប៉័ងប៉ាតេ (num pang pâté), which translates literally to “bread with pâté.” In both countries, an impressive variety of styles and fillings are available to suit every taste.
