Picture of the day: Cambodian Raw Fish Salad, Fresh Khmer Flavors

This plate of Cambodian raw fish salad, ភ្លាសាច់ត្រី (phlea sach trei), brings together silky slices of fish with bitter melon, bean sprouts, and garden-fresh herbs. The lime and fish-sauce dressing lightly “cooks” the fish, creating a bright ceviche-style salad rooted in everyday Khmer home cooking. It is the kind of dish you crave on a hot Phnom Penh afternoon: crisp, aromatic, and quietly addictive.
