A remarkable ca. 1938 view of the Terrace of the Elephants in Angkor Thom, long before modern tourism transformed the landscape. The weathered Khmer stonework, reflected in the water, gives the ancient monument an almost dreamlike stillness. Seen through the lens of the EFEO, this historic photograph preserves a quieter Angkor, where forest and ruins still seemed inseparable.
