As daylight fades, Phnom Penh reveals another side of its personality. Streets fill with lights, tuk tuks glide through the evening traffic, and the Royal Palace shines as one of the capital’s most beautiful landmarks. This short video captures a peaceful journey through Cambodia’s vibrant capital, offering a glimpse of the city’s timeless elegance after sunset.

There is something irresistible about Phnom Penh after sunset. As the tropical heat softens, the Cambodian capital comes alive with glowing lights, lively streets, and the unmistakable buzz of evening life.

Our latest video invites you aboard a tuk tuk for a short nighttime journey past one of Cambodia’s most iconic landmarks, the magnificent Royal Palace.

The Royal Palace in a Different Light

Built in 1866 shortly after Phnom Penh became the nation’s capital, the Royal Palace remains the official residence of Cambodia’s King. During the day, its golden roofs and Khmer architecture attract visitors from around the world. At night, however, the complex takes on a completely different atmosphere.

Illuminated against the dark sky, its elegant silhouettes reflect centuries of Cambodian craftsmanship and royal tradition. The surrounding streets become a stage where history meets modern urban life.

The Soul of Phnom Penh

One of the best ways to experience Phnom Penh is simply to let the city unfold around you.

From the comfort of a tuk tuk, every intersection tells a story. Motorbikes weave effortlessly through traffic, cafés remain busy, families stroll along the sidewalks, and street vendors continue serving local favorites long after sunset.

Unlike many capitals, Phnom Penh has managed to preserve an authentic rhythm that combines tradition with rapid modernization.

Why Explore the City at Night?

Evening is often the most pleasant time to discover Phnom Penh.

Temperatures become more comfortable, traffic feels less hectic, and many monuments are beautifully illuminated. Along nearby Sisowath Quay, visitors can enjoy river breezes, restaurants, and panoramic views where the Mekong and Tonlé Sap Rivers meet.

The Royal Palace forms one of the highlights of any nighttime walk through the city center.

Join us for this short nighttime ride and experience the atmosphere that makes Phnom Penh one of Southeast Asia’s most captivating capitals.

Whether you are planning your first visit or remembering previous travels, this video offers a small window into everyday life in the Kingdom of Wonder.

Did You Know?

The Royal Palace complex covers more than 170,000 square meters and includes the famous Silver Pagoda, whose floor is paved with thousands of solid silver tiles. Although parts of the palace remain the residence of the Cambodian monarch, several sections are open to visitors throughout the year.
