Video: Chiseling the sbek thom puppets

In a quiet Siem Reap workshop, an artisan leans over a sheet of cowhide, fully absorbed in the rhythm of his work. Each strike of the mallet drives the chisel through the leather, opening tiny windows of light that slowly form crowns, flames, and flowers from the Reamker. Cut by cut, guided only by memory and long practice, the once‑plain hide becomes an intricate Sbek Thom puppet, ready to cast its ancient shadow on the screen.
