In a quiet Phnom Penh corner, common purslane (Portulaca oleracea, Khmer: ផ្កាម៉ោងប្រាំបី phka maong pram-bei) spills over the cement edge in a cascade of pink, sun-loving blooms. Known worldwide as common purslane, this humble succulent thrives in the tropical heat and poor soils that challenge more fragile plants. Here it becomes a small Cambodian street-side spectacle, turning an ordinary curb into a vibrant ribbon of color.
