In this Bayon bas-relief, Khmer archers (in the left) and crossbowmen (on the right) advance in tight formation, their carved bows drawn in a moment of silent tension. The sandstone surface still carries the memory of Jayavarman VII’s campaigns, where Khmer forces faced Cham invaders in battles recorded across these temple walls. More than simple decoration, this scene turns Bayon into a stone chronicle of Khmer warfare, craftsmanship, and the human stories behind every arrow.
