Irrawaddy dolphins (Orcaella brevirostris, Khmer: សត្វផ្សោត sat phsaot) in Cambodia are critically endangered riverine dolphins, with fewer than 100 adults remaining in a 120 km stretch of the Mekong between Stung Treng and Kratie. They are regarded as a living national treasure and sacred animal, bringing both spiritual value and eco‑tourism income to local riverside communities.
