Paul Doumer, who was governor-general of Indochina from 1897 to 1902 and President of France from 1931 to 1932, is buried in the family vault at Vaugirard Cemetery in Paris, where he rests alongside his four sons who died during the First World War. The grave is a notable site within the cemetery, visited by dignitaries and marked as an important memorial to his tragic personal and national history.
