Ponthiamas, also known as Banteay Meas (បន្ទាសមាស) in Khmer, was an important historical principality and trading port located in present-day Hà Tiên, founded in the late 17th century by a Cantonese adventurer named Mak Kau. It was a multicultural settlement attracting Chinese, Khmer, Malay, and Cham residents, and later became a vassal state under the Siamese and Vietnamese Nguyễn dynasty before its annexation in the early 19th century.
