Costus woodsonii, commonly called red button ginger or scarlet spiral flag (Khmer: ផ្កាតាថុក phka ta tok), is an evergreen perennial with upright, spiraling stems and glossy green leaves. It grows up to 1–2 meters tall and produces striking red cone-shaped inflorescences from which small orange-yellow flowers emerge. In Phnom Penh, Costus woodsonii is frequently found in public parks, hotel entrances, and decorative flowerbeds, reflecting its popularity in urban landscaping and its adaptability to the Cambodian environment.
