King Suryavarman II is shown seated majestically on his throne with attendants holding fans and parasols, demonstrating his royal authority and the customs of his court.
The bas-reliefs depict him as commander-in-chief, leading a grand procession of commanders and soldiers, with the number of parasols denoting military rank.
These scenes in the west section of the south gallery illustrate both his regal splendor and his role as a powerful, historic leader of the Khmer Empire.
