Cantor’s turtle (Khmer: សត្វកន្ធាយក្បាលកង្កែប kânteay kbal kâng-kaep), once thought extinct in Cambodia, survives in the Mekong River, where ongoing conservation has helped its small population recover. In Cambodia, hatchlings are now regularly released to the wild, but threats like egg harvesting and habitat loss persist.
