The African tulip tree (Spathodea campanulata) lights up Phnom Penh with fiery clusters of bell-shaped blossoms; it is known in Khmer as ដើមហ្វីលីប daeum filip. Seen from below, each flower feels like a small torch, inviting passersby to slow down, look up, and enjoy a brief moment of urban rainforest serenity.
