Palmyra palm shoots (Khmer: កូនត្នោត kôn tnaot) in Cambodia come from the young, germinated seeds of the national tree known in Khmer as tnaot (ត្នោត), and are valued as a seasonal rural food. These tender, starchy shoots are boiled and eaten as a simple, energy-rich snack or side, like other root or tuber vegetables. In many Khmer communities they represent both everyday sustenance and a symbol of the deep cultural bond between villagers and the sugar palm landscape.
